Ratchaburi — legacies of the Mae Klong

West of Bangkok, Ratchaburi grew in the basin of the Mae Klong, between farmland, limestone hills and old trade routes towards Burma. Its cultural identity rests on the long-standing presence of Thai, Mon and other communities established in the province, as well as on know-how still visible in ceramics, markets and folk arts. The town preserves the Ratchaburi National Museum, while the province keeps alive, in particular, the nang yai shadow theatre of Wat Khanon. Temples, merchant quarters and workshops bear witness to a land where local traditions and contemporary creation continue to meet.
