The final stage of Rock Around Isan, Nakhon Phanom marks the culmination of the journey on the banks of the Mekong, facing the mountains of Laos. Over two days, the itinerary explores a border town whose identity was built at the crossroads of Thai, Lao and Vietnamese cultures, in a setting where the river remains at once a trade route, a horizon line and a thread of local memory. By bicycle along the Mekong and then by private vehicle, the discovery reveals a singular urban heritage, shaped by exchanges with French Indochina and by the Vietnamese migrations of the 19th and 20th centuries. The former Governors' Residence, the National Library, the former provincial court and the Thai-Vietnamese commemorative Clock Tower bear witness to this border history. The visit to Saint Anne's church of Nong Saeng and Saint Joseph's parish of Samat sheds light on the lasting settlement of Vietnamese Catholic communities, while the house where Ho Chi Minh stayed recalls the region's role in the political history of Southeast Asia. The route finally reaches Wat Phra That Phanom, one of the great Buddhist sanctuaries of northeastern Thailand.
